Last Hurrah at Dairy Queen

October 27th, 2008 · 4 Comments

One of my friends from High School, Tom, has been raving about the pumpkin pie blizzard at DQ and we got another Hollistonian to come out to Ashland and try this treat that Tom has been raving about.
Behold the Pumpkin Pie Blizzard:

Even though I didn’t get it with whipped cream as Tom suggested it was still really good.  We were actually surprised DQ is open until Nov. 2 so there’s still time to get one if you haven’t had it.   If you like pumpkin, you will not be disappointed.

I was driving through Ashland yesterday and noticed the sign saying Dairy Queen was closing for the season on Nov. 2. I was also surprised they were keeping it open THAT long. I think they’ve been extending their year on each end…seems to me they opened in early March this year. On hot summer nights my wife and I life to go there. Usually I’ve got the soft serve and chocolate running all over my face and hands but somehow I just don’t care! In many parts of the country, Dairy Queen is an eat-in fast food place like McDonald’s. Friends of ours from the midwest think the seasonal (outside window service only) Dairy Queen’s are kind of weird.

The Dairy Queen in Milford rt 140 opened a sit inside and eat restaurant. I’d never seen one before that.

When I first heard about the pumpkin pie blizzard, it sounded really gross. But based on what you wrote, I went to the Natick DQ on Sunday before it closed. Alas, they had sold out by then. Maybe in the spring…
